Comments on Streetcar Named Desire

As you read the first five scenes of Tennessee Williams' Streetcar Named Desire for Tuesday, think about the relationships between characters, the role of the setting, and how you would stage and perform the play. Think about names of places, people, and the streetcars.  What does the play say about the complicated dynamics of families?  What is the role of music in the play?

Stay focused on your papers (due Tuesday!).

  1. The Play is absolutely AMAZING!!! The people are rough, semi real people of the "old" forgotten world. The play shows how different family members can be from one another and about how the writer took from what he knew and wrote about it. I love the play and am enjoying reading it in class. I love the chemistry between Marlon Brando and Vivien Leigh.. Its absolutely breath talking!
